In the qualifying competition of the European zone in Szeged, only the winners in double kayaks got the opportunity to compete in Paris.

Rumyantsevs/Vilde finished third in the preliminary race and secured participation in the semi-finals. With the best result achieved in their semi-final race, the Latvian duo entered the final, where they did not overtake any competitor’s boat.

The Latvian duo was 2.58 seconds behind the Polish winners Jakub Stepunas and Pšemislav Korsak.

For women, the Latvian skeet duo Melanija Čamane and Krista Bērziņa reached the semi-finals with the 6th place in the preliminaries, where they also finished sixth, not making it to the finals.

In kayaking and canoeing, the Europeans distributed most of the Olympic road signs already last year at the world championship.

Roberts Lagzdiņš will represent Latvia in the 1000-meter distance in the Olympic qualification for canoeing on Thursday, and his way to Paris will be opened by finishing in first or second place in the final.

At the weekend, the first stage of the World Cup season will take place right there in Szeged, where not only Olympic qualifiers will compete under the Latvian flag. Two Roberts Akmens/Kārlis Dumpis and Madara Aldiņa/Gundega Aldiņa, as well as Jānis Kaurāts, have also been registered for kayaking.
