The heating season does not have to end – it is ensured by the individual heating points of the houses

The warm weather at the beginning of April has encouraged residents of several buildings in Jelgava to turn off the heating in their homes. Last week in Jelgava, heating was turned off for 23 buildings. As the weather becomes colder again, the opposite trend is observed – heating is once again necessary for residents. The city’s heat supply company “Gren Jelgava” reminds: in Jelgava, all multi-apartment buildings that use centralized heat supply have installed automatic individual heating points. They can be used to set the desired temperature, at which the heating in the building either turns on or off automatically, and it is not necessary to turn the heating off and on completely – the apartments provide a comfortable temperature even on cool spring days and early autumn.

As “Gren Jelgava” explains, for example, when the outdoor air temperature drops below the value set in the heat point, the building’s heating unit automatically turns on and heating is provided in the required amount, while when the outdoor air temperature rises above the value set in the heat point, the heat point and heating are automatically turned off.

Using the possibilities provided by automatic heating points, apartment owners do not pay more for heat than those whose houses are completely switched off and connected to the heating at the heating points without the possibility of it turning on or off automatically. The payment for heat energy is directly related to the amount of heat energy consumed in the house, which is influenced by how energy-efficient or heat-resistant the building is and what room temperature the apartment owners choose.

Only by significantly reducing heat energy losses in the building, it is possible to significantly reduce heat energy bills by a third or more. Therefore, “Gren Jelgava” invites customers who live in unrenovated houses to evaluate the possibilities of improving the energy efficiency of their houses in the summer, in order to reduce the building’s heat energy consumption and, accordingly, bills for heat in the cold season of the year.

Additional information on heat bills and heat energy consumption is available on the “Gren” customer self-service portal.
