Croatian WRC Rally winner Sebastien Ogier was not shy about criticizing the new points system at a press conference, calling it a joke. The Frenchman revealed that this points system “devalues good results”, as after the regular stage there was a driver who won more points overall than those who took the podium (Ogier got 21 points, Evans and Neuville collected 19 points each, but fourth place winner Ots Tanak collected 20 points).

“I think everyone feels strange today because it’s the third weekend after four rallies that nobody understands what’s going on with the points system. It doesn’t make sense and nobody understands it. It’s a shame for the championship. Let’s hope we can change it after as soon as possible so fans can understand the scoring as soon as possible,” DirtFish revealed Sebastien Ogierwho took his 59th WRC career victory and 100th podium in the Croatian WRC.

“This system completely devalues victories and devalues good results. We have a program in France Fan of L’École des. It is meant for children. You give everyone points. For example, always give them 10 points because you want to please them. That’s basically what happens in the WRC.”

“It’s wrong. It’s really a joke. Yes, we’ll have a champion in the end, but I don’t know who it is, it looks weird. It’s not natural anymore. That’s the sad part about today.”

When asked about his performance at the WRC in Croatia, the Frenchman added that so far in his career there has not been a rally in which he experienced so many moments where he went off the track several times.
