Head coach of the Latvian U18 national team Oleg Sorokin has named the national team candidates for the upcoming World Championship, which will take place from April 25 to May 5 in the Finnish cities of Espoo and Vantaa. Sorokin has included four goalkeepers, 11 defenders and 19 forwards in the pool of candidates.

The national team led by Sorokin will play in the same subgroup with the USA, Slovakia, Finland and Norway at the World Championship. In preparation for the World Championship, the U18 national team played the U20 tournament in Denmark in November, held a camp in Riga in December, and competed in the U18 Four Nations tournament in Denmark in February.

Meanwhile, five test matches are scheduled for the Latvian U18 national team before the championship in the spring: on April 6 and 7 at the Daugava Ice Hall against Poland U18, on April 11 and 12 away against the Czech U18 team, and on April 22 against Sweden.

Herbert Vasiļjevs, Maksims Širokovs and goalkeeper coach Edgars Lūsiņš will assist Sorokin in his work with the Latvian U18 hockey team this season. On the other hand, Raivis Miezāns will take care of the physical training, while Artūrs Barovskis will perform the duties of the video coach.
