An inseparable synthesis of two arts – cinema and music. It is difficult to imagine the modern world without the presence of cinematography, and music has always been an integral part of any cinema – already in the days of silent cinema, a pianist accompanied the film screening or, in more delicate places, an orchestra. The musical framework influences the emotional nature of the film, giving the message a much brighter, more nuanced and deeper meaning, and the roots tracks of the films continue their lives off the screen.
In a concert performance Treasures of film music. Mud 2 the mixed choir will once again offer its vision and feeling for the treasures of world and Latvian cinema music to the listeners Laudate and the artistic director Jānis Misiņš, whose first, experimental, film music-themed concert performance, which was played last fall, brought passionate joy to the performers themselves and earned a huge response from the audience.
Together with the LNSO string quintet, Valteru Līci (percussion instruments), Ugi Krišjāni (piano) and Madara Misiņu (flute), the choir will play many musical pearls – world cinema classics Once in America and Cinema Paradiso Ennio Morricone’s deeply poignant compositions, Michel Legrand’s music for the film Cherbourg umbrellas, Nino Rota’s recognizable themes for the film Godfather, Music by Raimonda Paulus and Imantas Kalniņas from domestic films Theatre, The Long Road in the Dunes, Breathe Deeper and many more.
