“Australian Open” finalists Sinner and Medvedev will meet in the semi-finals of the Miami tournament

Australian Open finalists Italian Yannik Sinner and Russian Daniil Medvedev reached the semi-finals of the singles competition of the Miami ATP 1000 tournament on Wednesday.

Sinner, who ranks third in the ATP ranking, beat Czech tennis player Tomas Makhach (ATP 60) in the quarterfinals 6-4, 6-2 and reached the world’s fourth-ranked Medvedev in the quarterfinals with 6-2, 7-6 (9:7) superior to the representative of Chile Nicolas Jarry (ATP 23rd).

Also last year, at the “ATP 1000” tournament in Miami, the two tennis players played a match against each other, when Medvedev turned out to be superior in the final. This season, on the other hand, Sinner met Medvedev in the final of the Australian Open Championship, and the Italian won in a five-set battle.

On Thursday, in other quarterfinal matches, world number one Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (ATP 12th), while Germany’s Alexander Zverev (ATP 5th) will face Hungarian tennis player Fabian Marošan (ATP 57th).

The Miami tournament will take place on clay courts until March 31.
