Olympic month is held in order to actualize the importance of movement and an active lifestyle in society’s everyday life, as well as to inform more about Olympic values. Throughout the month, everyone has the opportunity to participate in various activities – a walking and running challenge, tests and knowledge tests about Olympians and the Olympic Games, be inspired by the stories of experienced Olympic coaches, get to know the Olympic Games and their symbolism, participate in the Olympic Friends Club, as well as a drawing competition for primary school students .
From the first Olympic month participants of the day have the opportunity to start learning Olympic gymnastics movements, which Feneks and Lapsiņa will help the smallest gymnasts to learn Tuta things. On the other hand, experienced sports coaches will show an example to older gymnasts. Olympic Day is a world-renowned movement whose development has been supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1987, inviting the national Olympic committees of the world countries to celebrate the IOC’s birthday. The Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK) joined the invitation in 1992. Olympic Day is the only global event organized annually by the Olympic Movement. Most of the National Olympic Committees on the five continents use this opportunity to promote the Olympic values - excellence, friendship, respect. in Latvia Olympic Day is organized in the spring, thus marking the anniversary of the foundation of the LOK, which is on April 23.
