Led by coach Linda Līce, the Latvian national team started the match against the Swiss with Allan Kolosova, the hero of the previous junior championship, in goal. From the very beginning of the match, the opponents controlled the ball much more and naturally imposed their style of play on our girls. Their first shot was saved by Kolosova with her helmet, but she reacted a little too late to the second. Already at the beginning of the 3rd minute, the Latvians got behind with 0:1. The continuation of the match was also not favorable for our floorball players – after the first period, the Latvian national team lost with 0:4, but in the middle of the match already with 0:6. At this moment, the coaches sent the second goalkeeper Esther Elbreti to the field. In the 38th minute, our girls finally had a reason to celebrate as Katrīna Dārta Kārkliņa converted Elīna Dīce’s pass into a goal – 1:6. After the second third, the Latvian team lost 1:7. In the last period, our team allowed only one goal, losing to their title rivals with 1:8.

Goalkeeper Esteri Elbreti was recognized as the best player in the Latvian national team, she saved 16 out of 18 opponents’ shots in the second half of the game. The best player award in the Swiss team went to Miriam Vis, who was the most productive with 3 (1+2) points. Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., our junior girls will compete with Slovakian floorball players. This will be the most important game of the group tournament for our girls and probably also for Slovakian girls.
