On Europe Day, May 9, “Jurista Vārds” invites you to a discussion of judges of the European Court of Justice and young lawyers, with which the book magazine “Latvia’s first 20 years in the European legal space” will be launched. The event will take place at the European Union House, Aspazijas boulevard 28, Riga, at 15:00.

At this event, current and former Latvian judges at the Court of the European Union will discuss the future of European Union law: Ingrīda Labucka, Ineta Ziemele, Inga Reine and Pēteris Zilgalvis, as well as law students from four Latvian universities. The authors of the book magazine dedicated to the current affairs of EU law and other experts of this law are also invited to participate in the conversation.

“20 years ago, on May 1, 2004, we joined the political and economic alliance of the democratic countries of the European continent – the European Union. At the moment, when the world is once again facing a confrontation between democratic legal countries, on the one hand, and authoritarian countries in which the rule of law is denied , on the other hand, it is particularly important to strengthen the European Union, including the common law area, which not only contributes to Latvia’s economic prosperity, but also guarantees the personal freedom and security of each of us,” the editor-in-chief of “Jurista Vārda” invites you to attend the event Dina Gailite.

Every visitor will receive the magazine “Latvia’s first 20 years in the European legal space” at the opening event. The publication will be useful both for Latvian lawyers who work with EU law issues on a daily basis, as well as legal policymakers, as well as legal scholars and students.
