On the day of the restoration of Latvia’s Independence, 7 74 euros were collected at the “Warm the Heart” charity concert organized by the Ēdoles Culture House, in which admission was in exchange for donations to the small patients of the Kuldīga Hospital. The funds will be used to replenish the Courage Box for the little patients.
The charity concert “Warm the Heart” organized by the Ēdoles House of Culture is a truly humane and touching event, which is held every year in Ēdoles Parish both as a White Tablecloth festival concert on the Day of the Restoration of Latvian Independence and as a charity event to support children.
For the second year, it happened to please the children who have ended up in the Kuldīga hospital due to health problems. During that time, 774 euros were donated. The money will be used to replenish the Courage Box for the little patients.
“The Courage Box is really like a miracle cure, because after receiving the small gift from it, the child becomes happy, forgetting about the painful procedure or the unpleasant examination. The child’s positive emotions also inspire us doctors!” Ilze Pūpoliņa, a pediatrician at the Kuldīga Hospital, said to the audience, saying thank you for the donated funds and the wonderful concert.
The concert was performed by self-employed collectives of Ēdoles and neighboring parishes, as well as guests from Dienvikkurzeme district. They were the children’s dance group “Starkėni” and middle generation dance group “Mudurs” of the Ēdoles House of Culture, the Ēdoles mixed vocal ensemble “Vēja balsis” and Sandra with daughters, the instrumental ensemble of the Ēdoles branch of the Alsung music school, the İvande vocal ensemble “Stīgas”, the Alsunga chapel “Alšvangas spēlmani”, Snēpele chapel “Kā ir, tā ir” and Gunita and Artis from Ulmale. The concert was artistically designed, going through all the stages of the child’s development, emphasizing the care for the child’s needs in each of them.
Thanks to the response of the participants and visitors of the “Warm hearts” event last year, bed linen sets with a child-friendly design were provided for small patients in the department. They were specially sewn by choosing the best, highest quality fabric and making sure that the design of the fabric matches the design of the walls in the wards.
A child-friendly environment is an important source of emotional safety while in hospital. The purpose of the Courage box, on the other hand, is to make the little patient happy, to divert attention from the procedures to be performed and to praise them with a small gift for their patience or to calm them down if the procedure was painful.
