Arnis Odins, the organizer of the first stage and promoter of the autocross discipline in Latvia: “Each new season comes with news and various surprises during the season as well. During the winter we worked on a new class of Mini buggy drivers, standardizing the rules and promoting equality among drivers. In terms of the number of participants, we continue to grow, “old” drivers are returning, and we will also see debutants who came to autocross from other disciplines. We will spend the season in six stages, one of them also in Lithuania, the Pluņė track is relatively new and unknown to our athletes, so this stage requires special skill from the riders.”

For the first time, two classes of Mini buggies will compete in the Brenguli stage. One of them XTM Mini buggies, a class with standardized rules, in which the start with 200 cubic centimeter engines – serviced engines are delivered to each stage, a draw is held and one of them is installed in each buggy. The second class, the previous class – Mini buggies, cars with their own 160 cubic centimeter engines.

Entries in mini buggies are distributed quite similarly, 12 athletes in the XTM Mini buggy class, and 11 in the Mini buggy 160cm3 class. Among the riders are several debutants – Amēlija Tione, Aimija Tione, Sebastians Olle, Luize Trauberga, Emīls Kļaviņš, as well as a driver from Lithuania, Vincentas Matuolis.

11 entries in the Junior Xtreme buggy class. Among the nine boys there are also two girls, this season Patricija Neikšane will make her debut in the class, who last season entered TOP 3 in the XTM Mini buggy class, while Magdalėna Vecgaile will continue the battle that has already started. Everts Grava and Lithuanian athlete Patrikas Dungveckis will join the boys competition.

13 drivers are preparing for the start in the Xtreme buggy class. This class is seeing some interesting changes. From last year’s TOP 5, we will see three of them at the start, allowing young athletes to join the leaders as well. Among the debutants in the Junior Xtreme class are Oskars Zaķitis, Lithuanian Daugirdas Dungveckis and Raivo Jānis Beierbachs. There will also be newcomers – Emīls Lapsa, Mārtiņš Baunis, Niklāvs Jānis Avotiņš and Guntis Salmiņš. In the B1600 buggies class, six participant applications, among the Latvians also one Lithuanian and one Estonian.

In the class of 1,600 saloon cars, we will see ten athletes at the start. The veterans of the class will be joined by the “old” athletes who have already proven themselves in the class, as well as the debutant, Lynard Jason, who will also be the youngest participant in the class. The Open class has a pleasant lineup of athletes, we will see nine vehicles of this class in Brenguli. A new entry from the Jershov family, the youngest offspring, Mark Jershov, is on the list – it will certainly be interesting to watch the battle between the family, sharing trajectories on the track. Autocross connoisseurs will enjoy watching the fact that Rudolf Bogen’s name is repeated in the Open and 1600 class applications, the athlete challenged to start in two competitions.

The most anticipated start in the first stage could be the appearance of the VAZ classic, because Uģis Traubergs, the first Latvian, European champion in autocross, was also preparing for the VAZ battle. It must be admitted that Trauberg will have to compete with the already hardened VAZ Klasika lineup. As usual, the largest class in the championship is 2000 Super, the first round of battles between 18 drivers. The list of drivers is wide and the competition will be fierce, the battles will be exciting, but certainly the most awaited return of the fans is the application of Ritvars Kārklinis for the race.

The list of participants is available HERE.

Fierce battles are expected in all classes and the first stage on the Brenguli track is not one of the easiest, because there is no room for mistakes on the track and overtaking is quite difficult. Brenguli is a track where spectators can very comfortably watch every bend from above without missing a single battle of adventurous athletes, as it has an arena-like layout.
