Julia has been looking for her brother Valeria for two months. The woman is actively involved in the investigation and also asks for the public’s help. The brother stayed in Olaine, in the same apartment as his mother. The man often used to live in his garage in Bolderāja, so the mother did not think her son’s absence was suspicious in the first couple of days.

“All my brother’s belongings have remained in the house: both the backpack, where the keys are, and all the documents – both the passport, ID card, and disability certificate have remained at home, and the phone is also at home.”

The woman says that her brother left home on March 7, between ten in the morning and half past two in the afternoon. On March 9, Julia received a call from her mother, who said that her brother had not been seen for two days. Worried about the long absence of the man, relatives have started looking for the missing man.

“On the tenth, we wrote a submission. That same evening, I saw that an advertisement had been published on the Facebook profile of the State Police, which I shared and asked the people closest to me to share this information. The next day, mom went to the Olaine police station to find out if there was any new information.”

Further, the case of the man’s disappearance was transferred to the Riga police station, where the investigation came to a “standstill”. The woman says that, in her opinion, the protracted process is related to the categorical position of the law enforcement officers in this situation.

“One of the first times when we called the inspector, who is in charge of the investigation, she asked to look at my brother’s tablet to see if he had looked for any places where he could commit suicide. More recently, when our inspector was absent and replaced by another inspector, our conversation ended with something very similar. I was asked if my brother had thoughts of suicide?”

However, Julia admits that the desire to kill herself is not to blame for her brother’s sudden disappearance. A person contacted Valeria several times about jointly founded companies in Great Britain. The sister believes that the brother may have been kidnapped or abused.

“In the beginning, one company was re-registered to another person, and quite recently, in the second half of April, the other one as well. Then, seeing that something was happening, I was convinced that my brother’s disappearance was connected to these companies.”

On the day of his disappearance, Valery was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, a hat on his head, and brown shoes on his feet. If anyone recognizes the 48-year-old man in the picture or has seen him, please contact the police on 110 or inform relatives privately – 20444171.

The State Police did not provide further comments to the “Degpunkt” team about the progress of the search on Tuesday.
