On Tuesday, May 7, a video of an eyewitness gained popularity on the Internet, showing a mutual competition between used BMW and “Mercedes-Benz” cars in heavy traffic on the November 11 embankment in Riga.
At the traffic light at the intersection of the 11 November embankment and Muita Street, both the BMW and the Mercedes crept in front of everyone to wait for the green signal and start first. In the second lane, a bunch of motorcyclists were also waiting for the green signal at that time, who also suddenly got cold. Before the green light had turned on, but just waiting for the vehicles to leave Muita Street, the BMWs and motorcycles drove forward at the red light with the gas on the floor. Both a black Mercedes-Benz and another Lexus ran behind them at the traffic light prohibiting signal.
Checking the license plate of the “Mercedes-Benz CL 500” shown in the video in the CSDD public e-services database shows that the 435 HP car was first registered in Latvia less than two months ago. However, it has a rather large mileage – more than 227 thousand kilometers, but it passed the technical inspection with difficulty, for example, it was initially found to have a welded wheel disc, which threatens traffic safety.
