Ulbrokas Secondary School wins prizes in the “GEN-E Latvia” training company competition

The finals of the “Young Entrepreneurs Days 2024” or “GEN-E Latvia” organized by the educational organization “Junior Achievement Latvia” and the Latvian Investment and Development Agency have been held, where the best student training companies (SMU) and entrepreneurship education educators in the country have been determined, informs Renāte Supe, representative of Ulbrock High School.

In total, more than 1,500 SMUs have been registered in the student learning company program this year, of which more than 100 companies applied for the finals and the best 20 SMUs in the high school group and 11 in the primary school group were selected, among them Ulbrook High School SMU “BETO” led by Richard Philip Bittin and Eric Bondars from the 5th grade. On the other hand, five educators from all over Latvia were nominated for the teacher of the year nomination.

SMU’s work was evaluated by an experienced team of businessmen, professionals and academics, in which the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, “Swedbank”, “Dienas Mediji”, the Patent Board, “iPhone Photography School”, “Lancman Bags” and others were represented. says the representative of the school.

The days of young entrepreneurs took place over two days. On the first day, SMU took to the big stage and presented their SMU in front of the jury, which was later followed by booth interviews. The second day started with a panel interview, in which the jury asked various questions about economic terms and non-standard situations, as well as products and future plans in development, says R. Supe.

At the end of the second day, a solemn award ceremony was held at “Hotel Jūrmala”, during which SMU and the entrepreneurship teacher of the year were awarded. In the group of primary schools, SMU “BETO” from Ulbrokas Secondary School won 2nd place in the nomination “Latvia’s best student training company of the year 2024” and their unique flower pots, giving towels and textiles a second life. SMU “BETO” also won the jury’s sympathy award from Stockholm School. On the other hand, after evaluating the achievements of the year, R. Supe from Ulbrok Secondary School was honored this year with the “Business Teacher of the Year 2024” award.
