On May 2, a meeting was held for its residents with the presence of the municipality, the current manager of the house and the residents, and it was announced that the house is in a dangerous condition and should be vacated immediately.

One of the residents of the building, who wished to remain anonymous, contacted the portal LA.LV and stated that another meeting was held a week before the mentioned meeting, where the residents were told that the situation is not so tragic, the building can be repaired, so renovation will be carried out. They are told how everything will happen, how much it will cost, adding that the “Altum” support program will be used.
The next day after the meeting, a paper was sent, supposedly prepared for sending to the “Altum” program, but there was no talk about leaving the building.
A week later, an emergency residents’ meeting was called, in which it was announced that the house is unusable and that the residents must move out by the evening of May 7, as the building is dangerous for living.
The fact that there was no talk of leaving the house a week ago was the most confusing thing.
“Renovation has been talked about for several years, but it is dragging on. There have been pointless meetings where no one has agreed on anything,” she revealed. As for the visible defects, she pointed out that the cracks in the stairwells have been visible for a very long time, but they have increased only minimally.
“It became uncomfortable because it was my family’s personal apartment. If it was announced at least a month before, it would be easier to find a solution,” she reveals.
All the neighbors were in a state of shock, so the first day there was silence, the next day people started thinking about what to do next. “I realized that there were no options and I started looking for apartments for rent,” she says, stressing that at first there were many apartments, then half disappeared because the neighbors were also looking for a new home.
The council of Ogre has said that it can help with transport to transfer belongings to a new place of residence.
All residents understand that the house had to be renovated, no one is surprised by such a decision, but the resident of the house is depressed by the fact that they were given conflicting information.
Municipality of Ogre region portal LA.LV states that “the local government of Ogre region understands the dissatisfaction of the residents, but the local government could not ignore the conclusion of construction experts that the technical condition of the building may even endanger people’s lives.”
“The municipality of Ogre region states that the assessment clearly shows that the building does not meet the requirements that any residential building should meet. Moreover, the conclusion shows that the building can collapse unplanned and this is a threat to people’s health and life. Upon receiving such a conclusion, there is no other solution but to evacuate people from this building.
The municipality also draws attention to the fact that those residents who do not have possible places to move to should apply to the council,
asking for municipal housing. In this case, each request will be processed in an accelerated manner,” says the Communications Department of the Ogre region municipality.
To the LA.LV portal’s question about what to do in case there is an opportunity to move to another city, but children’s schools and kindergartens are located in Ogre, the municipality of Ogre region did not provide an answer.
As we reported, the building board’s report states that the building is considered an unsafe structure, because it does not meet the main, essential requirements for mechanical strength and stability, use and fire safety for the building – negative changes in the technical condition of the building structures have been detected for the building, due to which there is a threat of sudden, unpredictable, total or partial loss of working capacity. As an example, we should mention the cracks, which reach 10 mm in width, in the masonry walls of the staircase.
Until 2019, the house was under the administration of the municipality of Ogre region, after which these rights were taken over by the residents.
