Only those tree species that give edible sap in the spring are planted in the park. Currently, more than 300 birches, walnuts, maples, and beech trees grow in the park. The park is open both for scientific purposes, studying trees and their juices, as well as for lectures and excursions that take place at the “Birzī” production facility, as well as a simply cleaned environmental object open to the public.

This year we will add Japanese, Dahurica and Maximowicziana birches to the park, which originate from Asia and are characteristic especially of Japan. It also comes from Japan Shirasawanum maple tree. From North America, on the other hand, it will be planted in the park Circinatum maple tree.

“It won’t be 30 years before we start getting sap from these trees.”

“The park of sap trees is unique not only in Latvia, but also in the world, because here you can and will be able to see trees from which you can get juice for food. We are creating a place that will serve both entertainment and knowledge and possibly future innovations in the agroforestry industry. Both scientists and travelers from different countries of the world have already shown interest in the park. There have been publications about the park in magazines such as “National geography” and “Conde nast Traveller”, says the company manager Livija Labanovska.

Talcin residents will be able to put their hands and shovels in the creation of a unique project.

Event venue: Smiltene county, Brantu parish “Kainaiži”, “Birzī” sparkling birch juice production plant.
