The person who hung the flag with a polyethylene film tape in the center of Gulbene was fined – 30 euros – Gulbene district – Dzirkstele.lv

The person who, in the center of Gulbene, near the building on Rīgas Street 41, on the day of remembrance of the victims of the Communist genocide, on March 25, hung a flag with a black polyethylene film ribbon as a mourning design, was fined 30 euros. “Dzirksteli” is informed about this by the head of the municipality of Gulbene region, Mārtiņš Didrihsons-Linards.

“Dzirkstele” already wrote that on the morning of March 26, residents of Gulbene reported to “Dzirkstele” that in the city center, near the building on Rīgas street 41, instead of a black ribbon, a strip from a black plastic garbage bag was attached to the Latvian flag. At that time, “Dzirkstele” contacted the police chief of the Gulbene region municipality, M. Didrichsons-Linards, and informed him about this situation.

Laimas Priedeslaipa, chairman of the administrative commission of the municipality of Gulbene region, informs “Dzirksteli” that the administrative responsibility for showing open disrespect to the Latvian national flag is determined in the fourth part of Article 23 of the Law on the Latvian National Flag. On the other hand, the third part of Section 24 of this law stipulates that the administrative violation process for the violation mentioned in the fourth part of Section 23 of this law is carried out by the municipal police. “Consequently, we inform you that the examination of this case is not the responsibility of the administrative commission, but of the municipal police itself,” says L. Priedeslaipa.

M. Didrichsons-Linards tells the newspaper that in the specific case the person was fined 30 euros. “It happened that the real mourning tape was locked in the closet, the store manager was not there at that moment, so he tried to do something quickly,” says M. Didrichsons-Linards.
