There are still 15 neighborhoods in the Riga municipality outside the historical center of Riga and its protection zone, which do not have a defined neighborhood center. Until May 28 of this year, the City Development Department of the Riga municipality invites residents of Riga to express their opinion about the territory or place that could be the prospective center of these neighborhoods.

Neighborhood centers are places in the neighborhoods of Riga that perform local service, social and recreational functions. They represent the neighborhood’s identity, strengthen the residents’ sense of belonging to the place of residence, provide an opportunity to gather, relax and receive services. Currently, 33 neighborhood centers for 35 neighborhoods have already been established in Riga.

The center of the neighborhoods has not been identified at the moment in Beberbeki, Brekši, Bukulti, Dārzciem, Dreiliņi, Kleisti, Kundzinsala, Mūkupurva, Rumbula, Salas, Spilvė, Suži, Škirotava, Trīciciem and Voleri.

The target audience of the survey is those who live, work or visit these neighborhoods, receiving a service, spending their free time, visiting relatives or friends, etc.

When filling out the survey, residents have the opportunity to describe the traditions and events specific to a specific neighborhood, as well as to indicate a specific place that they consider to be the prospective center of this neighborhood. The survey data will be used by the Department of Urban Development to determine the most suitable locations for neighborhood centers in these neighborhoods.

The questionnaire is available in the “Join” section of the georiga.lv portal.

Responses to the survey will be anonymous and will be analyzed in a general manner. Completing the survey takes an average of 10 to 15 minutes.
