“Latvijas pasts” will issue a stamp and an envelope on May 10, 2024, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia. The stamping of the first day of the stamp is scheduled for May 10 at the open-air museum, 440 Brīvības gatve, Riga, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the company informs.

The new stamp will have 30,000 copies, while the envelope will have a circulation of 500 units. The nominal value of the stamp is 1.97 euros, which corresponds to the payment of letter correspondence in the weight category up to 100 grams in the territory of Latvia.

The author of the design of the philatelic issues is the artist Arta Ozola-Jaunarāja, who used the materials of the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum in the visual design of the stamps and envelopes, according to the representatives of “Latvijas pasta”.

The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is one of the oldest and largest open-air museums in Europe. It was created with the aim of preserving for future generations the evidence of the farmers’ way of life – the buildings, their life, as well as the location of the buildings in a farmer’s or fisherman’s homestead from the 17th to the 20th century. average in different regions of Latvia. Along with many other events in the anniversary year, one of the most ambitious events will be the opening of the museum’s summer season on May 11, 2024, when more than thirty objects in the museum will be crowded with people dressed in period-appropriate clothing and doing works specific to the specific place and time.

The new stamp will initially be available for purchase at post offices in major cities, as well as at “Latvijas pasta” e-store veikals.pasts.lv. The next philately issue is planned for May 24, the company says.
