Russia confiscates Italian factories. Italy’s response move is filigree

Italy will deliver Storm Shadow long-range missiles to Ukraine, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps admitted in an interview with The Times newspaper. However, the minister did not specify how many such missiles Italy will transfer to Ukraine, as Rome has not yet announced its decision to transfer the projectiles. Shaps also called on Berlin to start supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles – direct analogues of the Storm Shadow.

The Russian side has previously indicated that the Ukrainian armed forces used them in attacks on Luhansk, and also tried to use them to attack Crimea. The Italian side made the decision to supply these missiles to Kyiv after Russian President Vladimir Putin handed over the Russian assets of the Italian company “Ariston” (brands Ariston, Elco and Chaffoteaux) Gazprom Household Systems. Previously, on April 29, the head of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (IRTC), Ferdinando Pelazzo, announced that Rome stopped accepting rubles as payment for goods delivered to Moscow. According to him, the decision was made by the Italian Financial Security Committee, which unites several ministries.

Pelazzo added that authorities cited sanctions evasion as a justification for blocking ruble payments. As a result, the mechanism, which was launched in February, only worked for about two months and did not even survive the test period, which was supposed to last until May.
