The Public Services Regulatory Commission reported that in May 2024, heat energy tariffs decreased for 18 Latvian companies that provide residents with central heating services. With the average heating tariff in May being 86 EUR/MWh, PAS “Daugavpils siltumtīkli” ranked 7th among 85 heat supply companies with 65.86 EUR/MWh.
In the case of Daugavpils, the most important thing is that the new reduced tariff, which entered into force on May 1, will remain relevant until May 31, 2025. Namely, the entire next heating season in our city will be spent with currently one of the lowest heating tariffs in the country.
2023/24 the heating season has already ended, however, the price of hot water is also calculated taking into account the existing heating tariff. So, in May 2024, according to the large heating tariff of 65.86 EUR/MWh, 1 m3 the price of hot water in a house with a circulation system will be EUR 5.58 (without VAT); while in a house with a dead-end system – 5.17 EUR (without VAT). For comparison: last May, when the heating tariff was 79.88 EUR/MWh, 1 m3 hot water in a house with a circulation system cost 6.76 EUR, and in a house with a dead-end system – 6.28 EUR. Accordingly, this summer Daugavpils will pay for 1 m3 much less hot water than a year ago.
