The incident took place on the Riga-Tukums train one evening.

“We boarded the train at the Riga Central Station together with my 8-year-old boy. We were looking for a place to sit down. We passed by the 2 main characters of the story – boys whose age must be up to 14 years, maybe younger.

Behind my back, they started making comments about my boy because of his hair color, repeating “ginger”, “rice”, etc. several times. My boy scolded himself that it is not necessary to say that. They continued.

Of course, I reprimanded that it was not necessary. I tried to speak calmly. But guys, especially one “let me atpi**”. All the way to Babita, where the boys got out, they tried to provoke me, took pictures and talked about my boy all the time.

I intervened to calm him down, but then I also got in return. He started talking about my appearance, my weight, sent voicemails calling me names to his friends, and so on all the way to Babita. Before getting off the train, they threw paper balls made of train tickets at me.

When I got out of the train, they came to the window and gave me such “nice words” as “fuck me” etc. I can’t even imagine saying something like that to a grown woman.

It’s possible that there will be a video of them on TikTok soon, because it’s already considered cool to humiliate someone.

We are different and society should accept that. I didn’t know red hair color was something to be laughed at.

I hope that this message reaches the boys’ mothers. Although I doubt if parents are better off if they don’t teach their children compassion and decency.
