Since the beginning of the week, 15 people have been injured in road traffic accidents in the Riga region, one has died

Since Monday, 199 traffic accidents have been registered in the Riga region, in which 15 people were injured and one person died, according to the information of the State Police. The victims include three pedestrians and three electric scooter drivers.

On Tuesday around 4:40 p.m. in Ogresgala Parish, on the P80 highway (Tīnūži-Koknese), the driver of the “DAF” truck drove off the road and the vehicle overturned. The driver of the car was killed in a traffic accident. The State Police has initiated criminal proceedings for the incident and is investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Since the beginning of the week, five drivers of vehicles under the influence of alcohol and one under the influence of narcotic substances have been arrested in Riga and the capital’s surroundings. Three drunken drivers have been issued with an administrative violation report, three will be held criminally liable. In three cases, the value of the vehicle will be recovered.

During the last three days, 120 administrative violation protocols for speeding and three protocols for aggressive driving were drawn up in the Riga region, as well as one robbery and one theft from a home.
