The shower cabin must be of high quality and thoughtfully designed

A good shower cabin is perfectly designed in every detail. For example, hinges that are screwed into the glass must be precisely screwed. For good manufacturers, the hole through which the hinge is screwed is specially milled, which gives an absolutely flat plane inside. As a result, the cabin is easy to maintain, as there are no bumps, thick screw heads and other distractions. There are manufacturers who put one screw in such a hinged door and think everything is great. But as experience shows, it is impossible to tighten such hinges enough, and the door begins to settle, but the hinges twist and remain crooked. Sometimes, when opening the door, the glass even hits a person explodesin hands.

The manufacturer must have designed the hinge well so that it can really hold the load of the door, as doors tend to be wide and heavy. If this is not calculated and the hinges are inadequate, with a weak attachment to the glass, then in 2-3 years the cabin will look terrible – the door has settled, the sealing rubber is torn, because the glass has settled and streaks, the door does not close properly, and there are cracks in the cabin.

Good manufacturers can treat the glass with a water and dirt-repellent agent, which helps to maintain this glass very conveniently and easily for a certain period of time. The manufacturers offer to buy the relevant products in the form of a spray, so that once a year the cabin is treated with this product as a preventive measure, an easy-to-clean surface will be obtained again. “The more professional masters are involved, the better the final result will be,” says Raimonds Antonovič. There are simple cabins, the assembly of which does not require specific knowledge and experience. But you can’t go wrong with booths that require high precision. For example, there are doors whose hinges need to be tightened again after about an hour so that they do not settle. “Of course, it is very important that the cabin is assembled precisely from the beginning, but it is a matter of honor and duty of every installer to give a guarantee for his work”, believes Raimonds.

You cannot do without proper care and ventilation

When a person has purchased a high-quality shower cabin and made sure that it is professionally installed, one more important factor should not be forgotten – maintenance and ventilation. In order for the cabin to dry quickly and to prevent the formation of mold, the door must be kept open after use. “If there is always a soaked sponge in the cabin, which will drip six hours after taking a shower, I can guarantee that not only the silicone will start to mold, but also the tile joints, tiles and everything else that will be around this sponge. This is why ventilation is so important. A closed shower cabin door is a death sentence for beauty and aesthetics”, adds Raymond.

Practically any shower cubicle uses silicone for sealing. The less silicone, the better. Silicone wears out and needs special care, but it must be renewed if necessary. Both after repair and in everyday life, silicone cannot be cleaned with a dry cloth and rubbed, it can only be washed. It is still possible to clean silicone chemically. A well-applied silicone (smooth, smooth and on a well-greased surface) can last at least 20 years if properly cared for.

It should be taken into account that shower cabins have parts that wear out. For example, rubber seals can remain yellow, so it is essential that there is an opportunity to order and replace them, restoring the cabin to its original beauty and functionality. If any defects appear (for example, wheels that do not slide, doors catch or cracks are visible), they must be fixed immediately, so that larger problems do not arise, the elimination of which will cost more, or even the entire shower cabin will have to be changed. “It is better to buy and install a cabin that will cost 1,000 euros every 20 years, than to change the cabin for 300 euros every 3 years,” concludes Raimonds Antonovičs.
