The opening of the Latvian Lithuanian Rallycross Championship with 80 participants – that’s enough to have battles, but not everyone is on the starting line at the beginning of the season. The BMW 3000 class was the most represented, with 24 participants, including two from Lithuania. Fierce fights, similar technique, where skill made all the difference.

The Biķernieki track is shrouded in legends – fast enough that it is not easy to overtake. This track has all the elements you could want. Three jumps and a lot of fast sections, catchy turns, where the most skilled wins.

Latvian autosport has a future – a total of 20 young drivers took to the start in the Yaris class. Children and young people whose eyes shine – friends outside the track, but tough battles on the track.

Jānis Bergs, the organizer of the competition: “I am pleased that I managed to create a series in motorsport, which athletes and spectators recognize – a compact agenda. We see that more and more children and young people choose rallycross – the youngest pilots are not even 10 years old. We gradually educate young aspirants. Perhaps we will be proud of one of them one day, because they will be world famous.”

Leonard Patrick Lepsi, driver of the Super 2000 class: “This stage has ended fantastically, a victory was won in the Super 2000 class, unexpectedly – when I saw the time control times – I was surprised myself. I kept my pace, indescribably happy, because I made it to the final and won for the first time in rally cross”.

Kristaps Kronbergs, BMW 3000 class driver: “Stable day, good pace, I’m already looking forward to the competition in Jēkabpils. I drove in the joker when I was told – I listened and allowed myself. The car was fantastic – the two of us were in a very good tandem, of course also the spotters, mechanics and the whole team.

The next stage of the competition is on May 19, in Jēkabpils, on the “Baroni” track.
