The chairperson of the expert commission of the VKKF competition, Māra Mellēna, states that the program has defined sub-goals that emphasize the need to strengthen communities, prepare applications for the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and support the development of the Song and Dance Festival tradition, promoting the creativity of the amateur art collectives of the collective repertoire involved in the holiday tradition and a new cultural offer arising outside the traditional process of the inter-holiday period.

Among the biggest recipients of funding is the association “Danču krātuve”, which was awarded 21,075 euros to preserve, document and popularize dance traditions in Riga, with 16,000 euros supporting the “Meditation of Peace” choir’s concert performance.

On the other hand, 20,000 euros have been earmarked so that the association “Make Art” can plan the activities of the Libyan cultural space of Vidzeme, 18,000 euros are intended for the creation of the new work “Mana lūgsna” by the composer Rihardas Zaļupes, 25,000 euros have been allocated by VKKF to the activity of the association “Apskritnis” – the skill of making patterned double gloves In Mazsalac.

VKKF has earmarked 19,600 euros for the project “1866. The first Latvian school choir festival in Lazdon” of the “Riga Dome Girls’ Choir Association” and another 20,000 euros for the concert performance for the whole family “I want to be a little crazy”.

On the other hand, 16,075 euros were allocated to the “Upīte Youth Folklore Group” to preserve, document and popularize the Upīte cultural space. The center of traditional culture was supported with 17,000 euros to maintain the community and develop the dance tradition in Riga.
