On Thursday, May 2, Minister of Health Hosam Abu Meri welcomed the professionals of the health sector in a solemn ceremony – he honored seven recipients of the Letter of Appreciation of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as 49 recipients of the Letter of Appreciation and 33 Letters of Appreciation of the Ministry of Health. The Minister expressed appreciation to all for selflessness, professionalism and excellent work in the field of healthcare and public health.

“The year 2024 is more stable and predictable in the sector than the previous one and this is a confirmation that the health sector is a priority in the country along with safety. Measures are being implemented in the sector to ensure modern, high-quality and affordable health care for Latvian residents, and an orderly and modern working environment for medical personnel. It is important that in the fast pace of everyday life, we find a moment to stop a little and appreciate what we have done. Therefore, it is my pleasure and honor, in the spirit of Latvia’s national holiday, to say thank you to every person working in health care – for endurance and perseverance, for knowledge and professionalism. And for protecting the health of the people of Latvia,” Hosam Abu Meri said while addressing the awardees at the ceremony.

The Letter of Appreciation of the Ministry of Health was awarded to doctor-radiologist Sandra Dzīmīte of SIA “Bauskas slimnīca”. This year, the doctor’s seniority at the Bauska hospital reaches 38 years. Over the years, many positive feedbacks have been received from patients, the Hospital management has repeatedly expressed gratitude, appreciation for honest work, sensitive attitude towards patients and professionalism. In the population survey conducted by Bauska hospital last year, she won the award in the nomination “Best doctor”. In 2019, the local government of Bauska region awarded Sandra Dzīmīte the award “Man of the Year of Bauska region” for her outstanding merits in the field of local government, public health protection, and social care.

Internist Maruta Priedīte from SIA “Bauskas Hospital” SIA “Bauskas Slimnīca”, who started working at Bauskas Hospital as a ward therapist and continues today as a family doctor, internist, also practices the method “Physical stress tests with EKG” from the Ministry of Health. . In 2017, M. Priedīte received a letter of thanks from the Ministry of Health for her long-term work in ensuring the operation of the Bauska hospital. At the Bauskas hospital, he confirmed that many positive reviews of the doctor were received from patients, the hospital’s management has repeatedly expressed gratitude, appreciation for honest work, sensitive attitude towards patients and high professionalism.

Sarmīte Koluža, the radiographer of the radiology service of SIA “Bauskas slimnīca” received the letter of thanks from the Ministry of Health. In 1980, she started working at the Bauska hospital as a paramedic-laboratory technician and over the years developed her knowledge and education and currently continues to work at the Bauska hospital as a radiographer. During these years, patients praised S. Koluza. The management of Bauska hospital has also repeatedly expressed their gratitude for the work done. In 2024, Sarmīte Koluža’s length of service at the Bauska hospital reaches 44 years.
