At the ceremony on May 4, the highest state awards will be presented to those representatives of the most diverse fields, for which the awarding decision was made in April.

Addressing the guests of the ceremony, the President emphasized that this is a very symbolic time, because this year we are celebrating the centenary of the Order of the Three Stars and the 30th anniversary since this order was restored. We are also celebrating 20 years since the Order of Viestura and the Cross of Recognition were restored.

“Over time, representatives of many different professions have received these state awards. People who have done more than what is required of them both in their main job, in their place of service, and also by helping others. Today, you, the recipients of the orders, will join their ranks,” said the president.

“You were nominated by people who know you well. People who value your work, your service very highly. It was not so easy for the Order Chapter to decide who was the best of the best. Then when we discussed all the national awards, we saw very sincere , very good descriptions of works and merits,” the president emphasized, expressing gratitude to both the awardees for their work and service, as well as their families.

“Each of you has already given a lot to our Latvia with your work. I am sure that tomorrow you will continue to give even more,” the president said.

The office of the President stated that people who have been awarded the highest state awards of Latvia, whose honest professional and public work, active civic stance, self-sacrifice and patriotism strengthen our Latvia and are worthy of the highest recognition and honor of the state.

They are employees of the legal system, employees of education and culture, businessmen and also active, selfless helpers for Ukraine, its soldiers, civilians and refugees in Latvia. These are people who take care of the health and palliative care of our Latvian children for a long time and selflessly. Soldiers and National Guardsmen of the National Armed Forces, State Police Officers, Fire Rescuers, National Border Guards, who strengthen the security of our country and our common defense capabilities and protect the national border.
