According to the data of the State Regional Development Agency, in April of this year, the number of e-address users reached 200,000 natural persons, LETA was informed by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development.
Residents and legal entities can communicate with state institutions, municipalities and their institutions, as well as with legal entities that have been delegated the task of state administration at the e-mail address.
Citizens and legal entities can also contact judicial authorities, the prosecutor’s office, sworn bailiffs and administrators of the insolvency process at the e-mail address.
In 2023, citizens and legal entities most frequently contacted state institutions such as the Register of Enterprises, the State Social Insurance Agency, the Administration of the Sustenance Guarantee Fund, the National Health Service, the Bank of Latvia and the State Police.
Among the municipalities, Riga Municipality, Valmiera Municipality, Bauska Municipality, Ropažu Municipality, Alūksnes Municipality and Salaspils Municipality were the most frequently addressed by e-mail.
An e-address is a unified, official digital mailbox on the State Administration services portal “Latvija.gov.lv”, which can be created by individuals and legal entities who have access to one of the means of electronic identification.
By activating the e-mail address, its users will receive most of the information and documents sent by state and local government institutions electronically without the intermediary of the post office and in a more reliable environment than e-mail.
