“People probably know or don’t know, but the legs of this network are growing in Russia. And that tells me personally quite a lot about that channel and about their desire to fight some kind of criminal and forbidden things. I think it’s a serious challenge for our security services to evaluate what Telegram as such is at all,” Rach emphasized.
Even more so if this network is used to get narcotics.
It has already been announced that the State Police has detained an organized criminal group in connection with the unauthorized sale of narcotic substances, the organizer of which carried out criminal activities from prison, the police informed.
On April 23, the police arrested four persons – men born in 1968 and 1976, a woman born in 1981 and a man born in 1979, who was already in the place of deprivation of liberty in another criminal trial and procedural actions were taken against him.
According to the information at the disposal of the police, the arrested persons were engaged in the sale of narcotic, psychotropic substances, using a hidden system, communicating in the communication app “Telegram”.
The organizer was in one of the places of deprivation of liberty in Latvia and coordinated the activities of the other members of the criminal group, whose task was to store, package and hide narcotics, as well as control the financial flow.
In total, nine searches were conducted at the addresses and cars belonging to the arrested persons, as a result of which approximately 1.5 kilograms of amphetamine, various items for packaging amphetamine – electronic scales, polyethylene bags, already packaged amphetamine, as well as one “Volkswagen” brand car were confiscated.
The man born in 1968 was placed in custody. The man born in 1976 and the woman born in 1981 were given a non-custodial measure.
The alleged organizer continues to serve a prison sentence in another criminal trial, and if his guilt is proven in accordance with the law, the person will be held criminally liable in this criminal trial.
