The head of the office of the President received several tens of thousands of euros from her ex-spouse, a member of the Saeima

Last year, the head of the presidential office, Gunda Reire, received about 31,000 euros from her ex-spouse, member of the Saeima, former minister of finance Jānis Reira (JV), of which 5,960 euros are alimony, according to her official’s declaration for 2023.

She jointly owns real estate in Rojas parish, while she owns an apartment in Riga. The head of the presidential office owns a 2019 car “Mazda CX-5”.

Last year, Reire’s total income reached 145,392 euros. On the other hand, in 2022, her income was 57,507 euros. Last year, Reire received EUR 5,357 as a salary from Riga Stradins University (RSU), EUR 47,226 from the Office of the President, and EUR 52,735 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MA).

As other income, the head of the State President’s Chancellery declared 150 euros from RSA, 1650 euros from SIA “Rīgas Juridiskā augskola”. 714 euros were received as a fee from the Italian foundation “Fondazione Cariplo”, 3,300 euros were received from the company “Ramboll Management Consulting”, while the association “Center for International Studies” paid Reire a fee of 3,000 euros. She also received an allowance of 300 euros from the State Social Insurance Agency.

Last year, Reire was the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then she became the head of the President’s office. She was also a guest lecturer and assistant professor at RSU, a guest lecturer at SIA “Rīgas Juridiskā augskola”, she had an author’s contract with the foundation “Fondazione Cariplo” in Milan, Italy, and “Ramboll Management Consulting”, Copenhagen. Reire was also a member of the board of the “Women’s Safety” association, as well as the chairman of the board of the “International Research Center”.
