A user named “Walters Ze Mitāns” published a harsh opinion on his “X” account yesterday: “Unpopular opinion. It was long time to end that meaningless holiday on May 1.”

The man’s post caused widespread discussion. Alpinist Kristaps Liepiņš rushed to express the opposite opinion, writing: “International Workers’ Day, also known as Labor Day in some countries, often called May Day, is a workers’ holiday that is celebrated throughout Europe. Their history dates back to 1856! Even if it wasn’t a holiday for us, it’s a holiday in Europe.”

Another “X” user stated that if you want, you can work on May 1st, but “Walters Ze Mitāns” replied to this comment that you cannot work normally if everyone has a holiday.
