The criminal case in which Andrejs Krilovs is accused of a murder committed in April 2022 in Riga, in the forest near the shopping center “Akropole Alfa”, the Riga City Court in the suburb of Vidzeme plans to continue hearing on May 27 at 11 a.m., the court was informed.

On the evening of April 12, 2022, the police received a call to the Biķernieki forest massif, where a conflict had broken out between several mutually unknown persons, as a result of which a firearm was used, one person died and another was injured.
Law enforcement officers and medics went to the scene, where the received information was confirmed. One young man was taken to a medical facility, while another man died of his injuries at the scene.
The State Police identified the possible culprit and arrested him the next day.
He had left the scene after the crime and was hiding from the police.
During the investigation, the law enforcement officers found out that the conflict broke out after the young people, who were resting in the forest, heard shots, so they approached the alleged shooter and reprimanded them sharply. The man had been shooting for fun in the forest.
As the conflict subsided, the involved persons left, but the alleged perpetrator, being angry and irritated with the young men, driven by the motive of revenge, took out an unregistered firearm from his jacket pocket and fired several times aimed at the person from a short distance.
The indictment says that a total of about ten shots were fired.
The accused man is in custody. He was born in 1967 and has not been punished before.
At one time, a video fragment was available on the Internet, which was most likely taken by one of the men involved in the incident. The image of the gunman captured in that video was used as police asked for the public’s help in catching the shooter.
The clip showed a heated, profanity-laced exchange between the attacker and the four men.
It is understood that the men involved in the incident knew that the attacker had a weapon, so they actively encouraged him to get rid of it.
It follows from the videotaped conversation that the men heard the assailant shooting in the forest, so they paid attention to him, while the assailant denied that anything had happened.
The accused has expressed his position in court that he used the weapon for the purpose of defense, because the company of young men was said to be thoroughly intoxicated and aggressive.
