You can count on me at both ends of the court

The 27-year-old forward Haralds Egle was a relatively unknown player to a wider group of Latvian hockey fans, as he has not participated in world championships before. After spending ten years in North America, the native of Liepāja is now continuing his career in Europe, and this spring he clearly proved himself as a member of the Latvian national team, playing in the center forward position, which has long been a “scarce commodity” in our national team. “You can rely on me at both ends of the field,” Egle described himself in a conversation with TVNET+, who earned the sympathy of the head coach of the Latvian national team, Harijs Vītoliņš.

Egle played this season in the Slovakian extra league team “MHK 32” from Liptovski Mikuláš. In the regular championship, in 49 games, the striker of the Latvian national team scored 11 goals and made 28 assists (39 points). On the other hand, in the “play-off” tournament, he scored four points (1+3) in five matches.

This spring, Egle scored his first goal as part of the Latvian national team, and with two accurate “bullies” he helped beat Austria 3:2 in the penalty shootout in the test match. Egle then scored two goals in the game against Finland, coming out twice in the numerical majority, but Latvia blew a 2-0 lead and lost 2-3.
