In order to avoid a collision, the braking distance of a passenger bus driver on Vīlipa street turned out to be too short on Wednesday. Having noticed at the last moment a silver Opel passenger car parked on the side of the street, the driver did not have time to maneuver and crashed into the parked vehicle.
“The car broke down. We sat. The bus, as I understand it, did not notice and “flew in”. So banal that there is nothing to add,” says the car driver.
The driver of the crashed vehicle says that the impact was so strong that it threw them several tens of meters forward. However, the experienced traffic accident is not the only sorrow for the passengers of the injured car.
“This is a rental car. Only half an hour ago, it took half an hour until what happened. It has problems with the gearbox and took it back to the company for them to look at. Didn’t drive three kilometers,” says the car driver.
Although the impact was unexpected and strong, the man and his passenger were not injured in the collision and are physically fine. However, a bus passenger was injured at the time of the accident. The woman was handed over to medics.

Laura Bērziņa, a representative of the NMPD Communication Department, informs: “The NMPD medics provided assistance to one injured person, who was taken to a medical facility in a satisfactory condition.”
Perhaps the men did not post a warning sign on the road so that other road users could understand in time that their vehicle had technical problems. Next, the law enforcement officers will explain the circumstances of the incident. The program “Degpunktā” failed to get a comment from “Rīgas satiksme” about the incident.
