On its 30th anniversary, LDDK presents the “Employer of the Year 2023” award and expresses gratitude to the long-standing council members and employees. Last week, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Confederation of Employers of Latvia (LDDK) was celebrated at a solemn reception attended by the President. The main purpose of this event was to honor those people who have invested in the strengthening of social dialogue and the growth of the organization over several years, as well as to present the “Farmer of the Year 2023” award.

“The previous activity of LDDK and the future success would not be possible without our members. The pace of change depends on their motivation and ability to agree with each other and take messages to cooperation partners. And the introduction of changes is in the DNA of our organization, so we will continue to promote both labor taxes, human capital and other competitiveness issues of the business environment,” said LDDK president Andris Bite in his address to the event’s visitors.

Among the visitors of the festive reception were the President Edgars Rinkēvičs, as well as representatives of Latvia’s largest employers and social and cooperation partners of LDDK. The event took place in the Kokaru hall of the Mežapark stage, where thanks were given to long-standing council members, LDDK employees, as well as the annual LDDK award – the title of “Countryman of the Year 2023”.

Māris Rēvalds, the chairman of the board of SIA “Veselības centrs 4”, the chairman of the board of the Association “Health Care Employers’ Association” was awarded as the Farmer of the Year 2023. Mār Rēvald’s contribution to the development of Latvian medicine and ensuring the welfare and health of society is essential, because SIA “Veselības centrs 4” under the leadership of Mār Rēvald, during its almost thirty years of existence, with his works and example, following world trends in medicine, thoughtfully investing the earned funds in the development of the company, promotes and ensures novelties in medicine, expands its operations and modernizes patient care by introducing new treatment technologies and methods in its company.

The long-term members of the LDDK council were awarded for their significant contribution to the strengthening of social dialogue: LDDK honorary president Vitālijs Gavrilovs, SIA “Latvijas Mobilais telefons” president Juris Binde, long-term chairman of the JSC “Latvijas Finieris” council Juris Biķis, as well as entrepreneurs: Aiva Vīksna, Arkādijs Sushkins, Yevgenius Kalējs.

“In the 30 years of existence of LDDK, a lot has been done to build and legitimize the organization, make its members united, and our actions effective. A lot of work has been done to represent the interests of employers in Latvia, and now our job is to use the existing resources and the experience accumulated over the years to adapt to today’s changing conditions and move forward – in the next thirtieth year of LDDK,” said Kaspars Gorkš, director general of LDDK.

For their contribution to the development of the LDDK organization, long-term employees were awarded: Ieva Jaunzeme, Līga MenĆelsone, Ilona Kiukucāne, Jolanta Vjakse, Anita Līce, Pēteris Leiškalns.

The Confederation of Employers of Latvia (LDDK) is the largest organization representing employers in Latvia. Since 1993, LDDK has represented the interests of employers in social dialogue with the state and trade unions, advising and recommending actions that can help the growth of business, the national economy and, therefore, the society. The organization unites 158 members – entrepreneurs, as well as sectoral and regional associations and federations of entrepreneurs.
