Sorokin names the candidates of the Latvian U18 national team for the world championship

Oleg Sorokin has included four goalkeepers, 11 defenders and 19 forwards in the pool of candidates.

In preparation for the world championship, the U18 national team played the U-20 tournament in Denmark in November, held a camp in Riga in December, and competed in the U18 Four Nations tournament in Denmark in February.

Meanwhile, five test matches are scheduled for the Latvian U18 national team before the championship in the spring: on April 6 and 7 in the Daugava Ice Hall against the Polish U18 national team, on April 11 and 12 away against the Czech U18 national team, and on April 22 against Sweden.

In the master competition, which will take place from April 25 to May 5, in the Finnish cities of Espoo and Vantaa, Latvian U18 hockey players will meet the home team Finland, Norway, Slovakia and the USA in subgroup A, while Canada, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Sweden and Switzerland will compete in subgroup B.

In his work with the Latvian U-18 hockey team, Sorokin is assisted by Herbert Vasiļjevs, Maksims Širokovs and goalkeeper coach Edgars Lūsiņš. On the other hand, Raivis Miezāns will take care of the physical training, while Artūrs Barovskis will perform the duties of the video coach.
