In Germany, on Sunday, an underage young man reported to the police, who confessed to the attack on the member of the European Parliament (EP), social democrat Matthias Ek, in which he was seriously injured.

The 17-year-old youth came to the Dresden police and said that he was “the culprit who knocked down the Social Democratic Party politician”, according to the police statement.

It has already been reported that on Friday evening in Dresden, when the politician was placing EP election campaign posters, he was attacked by a group of four people.

Eke was taken to hospital after the attack.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were dressed in black clothes. This is how right-wing extremists usually dress.

A few minutes before that, a group of four attacked a Green Party campaign worker who also placed election posters. The 28-year-old man was punched and kicked and sustained injuries. This attack also took place in Dresden.

Investigators believe both attacks were carried out by the same people, but the other three attackers have not been identified.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said such attacks threaten democracy.

As stated by the Saxony organization of social democrats, other campaign teams that have placed posters have also been offended, there have been attempts to intimidate them, but the posters have been damaged.
