US National Intelligence Director Avril Hynes predicts that Russia will resort to more aggressive tactics in Ukraine, reports European Pravda, citing Reuters.
Sources say Russia has stepped up attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure to prevent Kyiv from moving weapons and troops, slow defense production and force it to consider talks.
“Putin’s increasingly aggressive tactics against Ukraine, such as attacks on Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure, are designed to convince Ukraine that continuing the war will only add to the damage to Ukraine and offer no credible path to victory,” said the US director of national intelligence.
However, she indicated that these “aggressive tactics” are likely to continue and “the war is unlikely to end soon.”
The United States has previously expressed hope that the new American military aid approved by Congress will help Ukraine’s armed forces finally regain the initiative on the battlefield, but a large-scale Ukrainian offensive is unlikely in the near future.
In turn, the Estonian intelligence services indicated last week that Russia is trying to use the last opportunity before the arrival of Western military equipment and ammunition in Ukraine to intensify the attacks.
