14 more people seriously injured in the war in Ukraine were brought to the Emergency Medicine and Patient Reception Clinic (NMPUK) of the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS), the LETA agency was informed by the hospital.

NMPUK patients were welcomed by a multidisciplinary medical team – doctors of various specialties and nursing staff from NMPUK, Traumatology and Orthopedics Clinic, General and Emergency Surgery Clinic. All patients underwent a comprehensive health screening – various diagnostic and laboratory examinations, also checking for the possible presence of multiresistant infections.

After the examinations at NMPUK – depending on the specifics of the injuries – patients will go to other Latvian medical institutions.

Patients injured in the Ukrainian war are regularly brought to Eastern Hospital thanks to the private initiative of the founders of the charity project “M-Help.com” Arvja Reketas and Mārtiņš Medinieks. On the other hand, the charity foundation of Georgiys Logvinskas, which operates in Ukraine, has equipped and rebuilt a bus with which these patients are transported.
