The Chaldean Rite Catholic Patriarch of Baghdad, Louis Raphael I Sacco, encourages Christians during the last week of Great Lent to “purify our minds and hearts and return to the authenticity of our faith.” In the message before Easter, the patriarch reminds that Jesus, knowing what awaits Him in Jerusalem, deliberately begins to intensify his teaching and prepare for the last stage of his mission, which will cover the whole world.

“We must also be aware,” writes the Church’s shepherd from Iraq, what Christ’s mission means for us. It must be realized that the Kingdom of God requires us to take faith and trust in Him with courage, honesty and complete trust. Everyone must strive to enter the Kingdom of Jesus through repentance, which becomes true reform through conversion, change and integration, so that Jesus lives and works in us.”
Cardinal Sacco invites the faithful members of the Chaldean Rite Catholic Church to reflect on the Passion of Jesus, starting from Palm Sunday to the Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. The representative of the Eastern Church reminds us that Jesus is always with us, even in challenges and difficulties that hurt us. At the end of the message, the Cardinal urges us to remember Jesus’ promise that He will always be with us, until the end of the world.
