Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul, won the toss and chose to bat first in their crunch IPL match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Whereas log-leaders Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are almost guaranteed places in the playoff matches with eight wins and 16 points from their 11 matches, both the Sunrisers and the Super Giants are in a four-team tie on 12 points as they scrap for the remaining knockout places.

Sunrisers are currently in fourth place on net run rate behind the Chennai Super Kings but ahead of Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow who are in sixth place. A win today for either side will take them into sole possession of third place.
