It has already been announced that Schmidt could join the Spanish club “Valencia”, signing an agreement for three years and receiving more than one million euros in each of the seasons.
Spanish basketball reviewer de Lukas pointed out that the Latvian does not add to the ranks of “Valencia” and the main contender for his involvement is “Monaco”, which is also ready to buy out Schmidt’s contract with the Kaunas team.
This season, Šmits scored an average of 10.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in 23 minutes in 31 ULEB Euroleague matches for Kaunas “Žalgiris”. He made shots from the game with 51% accuracy, including long shots with 37% accuracy.
Last year, “Žalgiris” extended the contract with Šmitas until 2025/2026. at the end of the season. Valmierietis is spending his second season in the Kaunas club.
Before joining the Kaunas team, Schmidt represented “Barcelona” since 2017, concluding a five-year agreement at that time.
After spending his first year on loan at Fuenlabrada’s Montakit, he played 107 ULEB Euroleague games with Barcelona over the next four seasons, averaging 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds.
