The National Hockey League (NHL) 2024 draft lottery took place last night among the teams that did not enter the play-off, with the San Jose Sharks winning the first pick.

Sharks 2023/2024 finished the 2018 season in last place in the entire league with 47 points in 82 games, which gave San Jose the best chance of getting the first pick – 25.5%.

The Chicago Blackhawks got the second pick, the Anaheim Ducks got the third, the Columbus Blue Jackets represented by Elvya Merzlikin the fourth, and the Montreal Canadiens got the fifth. On the other hand, the Buffalo Sabers represented by Zemgus Girgensons got the 11th pick.

Canadian Maclin Celebrini is considered the favorite of this year’s draft, who scored 64 (32+32) points in 38 games for the Boston University team last season, while the striker collected eight (4+4) points in five matches as part of the Canadian U20 national team.

The NHL draft will take place on June 28 and 29 in Las Vegas.
