A week and a half ago, the Americans announced the first 15 players for the World Championship. Dylan Larkin, the star of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL), who scored 33 goals and 36 assists in 68 games, was also in the application, but due to an injury, he will not be able to join the team.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Trey Augustin (University of Michigan, NCAA), defenders Jeff Petry (Red Wings), Matthew Kessel (St. Louis Blues), Mike Kesselring (Arizona Coyotes), as well as forwards Brock Nelson (New York Islanders ”), Will Smith, Ryan Leonard (both Boston College, NCAA), Kevin Hayes (St. Louis Blues), Michael Eysimont (Tampa Bay Lightning).

The most powerful addition is Nelson, who scored 69 (34+35) points in 82 NHL regular season games this season.

The Latvian national team will conclude the WC group tournament with a match against the USA on May 21. Last year, the team led by Harijas Vītoliņš won the bronze medals directly in the game against the Americans.

It was previously announced that John Hines has been appointed as the head coach of the US national team.
