Max Verstappen convincingly won the sprint race of the Miami stage of the F1 championship. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo had risen to third place at one point, but in the last lap he stayed ahead of the attacking Carlos Sainz.
At the start, Verstappen held the first position over Charles Leclair, while Ricciardo had managed to move up to third place. Sergio Perez attacked Leclair, but in the heat of the battle, Ricciardo took advantage of the situation to pass him.
In the meantime, the yellow flags were hung on the track and a little later the safety car was put to work. In the first corner, an overly optimistic maneuver was performed by Lewis Hamilton, who started from the 12th position. While trying to overtake Nico Hilkenberg, the seven-time champion collided with Fernando Alonso, who caught teammate Lance Stroll. Stroll then collided with Lando Norris, causing the McLaren driver to slide off the track and retire. “Aston Martin” pilots, meanwhile, restarted the battle from the end.
“Red Bull” pilot Verstappen continued to build a lead of several seconds and won, but Leclair just as surely won the second place. Perez managed to overtake Ricciardo on the fifth lap and take third place.
RB’s Ricciardo’s fighting spirit is to be commended as he managed to stay ahead of Sainz in the final laps to claim fourth place. Oscar Piastri finished sixth, closing in closely behind Ricciardo and Sainz. The last points were collected by Hilkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda. Hamilton finished eighth but received a 20-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
