Semenistai loses in the semifinals of the singles tournament of the ITF W-100 series in Germany

Semenistaja, who is ranked 113th in the world and seeded fourth in the competition, lost to the main favorite of the tournament, the Argentinian Julija Riera (WTA 94), with 2-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Semenistaja started the match with a serve, losing the third and seventh games in the first set, serving herself, but in the eighth game she managed to return only one of three set points.

In the second game of the second set, Semenistaja used the second of three break points, leading 3-0 after the next game, but Riera fought back, winning the seventh game in which the Latvian tennis player was serving.

Playing the longest tenth game until then, the Latvian tennis player was able to win with the first set point, continuing the fight for victory in the third set.

In the third set, which was started by Semenistaja with a serve, the tennis players exchanged winning service games of their opponents in the third and fourth games.

In the ninth game, Semenistaja gave her opponent three break points in a row, Riera used the third one and took the lead 5-4.

In the longest final game of the match, Semenista had three break points, but Riera won with the third match point.

For reaching the quarterfinals, the Latvian tennis player earned 39 world ranking points.

It has already been reported that in the first round, Semenistaya beat Raluk Sherban (WTA 186), representing Cyprus and born in Romania, 6-4, 6-1, in the round of 16, she beat Gina from Poland 6-7 (6:8), 7-5, 6-2 Feistel (WTA 609), who qualified before entering the main tournament, but defeated Slovenian Veronika Erjavec (WTA 169), who had qualified, in the quarterfinals 5-7, 7-5, 6-2.

It has already been reported that in the doubles competition, Semenistaya, the third seed of the tournament, and Georgian Natela Dzalamidze reached the quarterfinals, Semenistaya earning 21 world ranking points.

Competitions take place on clay courts.
