Tesla is not used for long

The study also revealed how often a particular model was owned by one person before it was sold. A “Mercedes-Benz” C-class car has been in the hands of one owner for an average of 2.1 years. The Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 5 Series and Volvo V70 vehicles were also owned by one owner for more than two years before being sold.

On the other hand, BMW X5 models change owners much more often – on average every 1.6 years. The list of less used vehicles is completed by BMW 4 series (1.6 years) and “Opel Insignia” (1.7 years).

When studying different car brands, it can be concluded that “Subaru” vehicles are used for an average of 2.8 years. Kia (2.7 years), Hyundai (2.7 years), Volkswagen (2.7 years) and Škoda (2.6 years) are close behind in terms of usage.

Although Tesla cars have become extremely popular, these electric cars are in the hands of one owner for only 1.2 years on average. This may indicate that many buyers have bought into the popularity of electric cars, but may not have fully appreciated the amount of care that goes into maintaining such a vehicle. “Renault” is also among the cars whose owners change frequently – every 1.9 years. Similar data are also available for “Seat” cars, which are used for an average of two years.

“Electric cars still do not offer the same convenience as internal combustion engine vehicles. There are quite a lot of motorists who could afford an electric car, but they do not have their own charging station. Such buyers try to live with an electric car at first, but very quickly realize that it is not very convenient,” says Buzzard.
