In 2024, at the meetings of the Urban Environment Development and Quality Commission of Riga City Council, 69 projects were approved for the preservation of the cultural and historical building heritage and facades of residential houses in Riga* and for the implementation of measures to prevent hazards and improve energy efficiency in residential houses, as well as for the improvement of plots of land attached to them**. The total funding allocated for the implementation of these projects this year is 1,213,684 euros.

19 of the approved projects will be implemented in the Small Program, which is intended for the restoration and renewal of elements of cultural monuments – building crafts and elements of residential houses. In this program, municipal co-financing in the amount of 50% of the direct costs of construction works, but not more than 5000 euros, is granted for one project. One project has been approved in the Small Improvement Program, where one project is co-financed in the amount of 50% of the direct construction costs, but no more than 10,000 euros.

16 of the approved projects will be implemented within the framework of the Grand Program for the restoration and renovation of cultural monuments and renovation of residential facades, while 33 projects will be implemented in the Riga co-financing residential renovation program. In these programs, one project is co-financed for 50% of the direct construction costs, but no more than EUR 30,000 for a building with sixteen or more apartments, EUR 25,000 for a building with six to fifteen apartments, EUR 21,000 for a building with from three to five apartments and up to 20,000 euros for construction works to preserve other cultural and historical monuments.

All projects approved in tenders must be implemented by November 15 of this year. Municipal co-financing will be paid to the project applicant only after the project is implemented, all project costs have been incurred by the co-financing recipient and all necessary documents have been submitted.
