In the Swedish city of Malmo, where the Eurovision Song Contest will be held, a man and a woman burned a copy of the Koran on Friday.

The video, which showed the burning of a book of Islamic scriptures, was broadcast live on the TitTok platform.

The Palestinian flag was also burned in the action, which took place in the center of Malmö near the two Eurovision venues.

Swedish police have been criticized for allowing Qurans to be burned so close to the Eurovision venues.

Koran burnings in Denmark and Sweden last year sparked outrage and violent protests in Muslim countries, but in Sweden such acts comply with free speech laws and are legal.

On Saturday, Eurovision-related events will begin in Malmö with many concerts and parties, the culmination of which will be the contest final on May 11. More than 100,000 guests are expected to come to Malmö for these events.

Several protests related to the war in the Gaza Strip have also been announced during this time, including pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrations.

Israel’s National Security Council on Thursday stepped up its warning to visitors to Malmö, advising Israelis planning to visit the city to think twice.

Swedish artists have called for Israel to be excluded from the Eurovision Song Contest due to the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, but contest organizers have rejected the call.
